You cannot use client policy to exclude a folder from contact search in Lync 2010

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You deploy Microsoft Exchange Server in a Microsoft Lync Server 2010 environment.
  • You use the SetCsClientPolicy command together with the ExcludedContactFolders parameter to apply a client policy. The policy excludes a folder from contact search.
  • A user signs in to Lync 2010, and then performs a contact search to search a contact that is in the folder.
In this scenario, the contacts in the folder are still displaying in the search results.
